Prior to the founding of the Free Methodist Church, B. T. Roberts began a periodical called The Earnest Christian. He and others wrote about the principles and values that led to the formation of the church. For the next 50 years, The Earnest Christian continued to challenge members on how they lived their faith. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the denomination, let’s look at that early phrase – “Earnest Christian” — and what it means as we move into a new era of the movement called Free Methodism.
