Prayer to Unify

I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. (John 17:20-21)

… all of them
just as you are in me and I am in you
… may they also be in us
so that the world may believe

If we dwell on these phrases of Jesus’ high priestly prayer, we are captured by the wholeness of unity and the intense intimacy that He is praying for.

What Jesus prays is being accomplished. He, Himself, said, “Ask and it will be given to you… Whatever you ask in my name… If you say to this mountain ‘move’ it will move…” If this is what Jesus promised, then we know His prayer is being answered.

Let’s join Him in prayer with faith and hope. Unity is being accomplished as we pray.

Monday, February 28– Sunday, March 6
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone — for kings and for all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior.
(1 Timothy 2:1-3)

This week’s guide is a bit different. We want to use Scripture as our guide to pray for the people leading General Conference. Each day two members of the General Conference Steering committee are listed. These leaders will be our focus for the day.

Look up the scriptures listed below. Keep them available throughout the week. Use one or two of the scriptures daily to pray for the leaders listed. We encourage you to pray your prayers aloud. As when we sing, our voices make an impact on our spirit and rise as praise as well as petition when verbalized. We serve a God who listens! As you approach these times of prayer ask the Holy Spirit to:

  • Direct your thoughts to what scriptures to pray over each person.
  • Direct your prayers to the personal needs of those on the steering committee. Their lives are full, yet they are giving extra to make this special event happen.
  • Help us know how to pray for the leadership and unity needs of this group.
  • Help increase our love for each one listed — to have a heart of thanksgiving for them and their willingness to serve.

“Action Prayer”
As you are praying the Holy Spirit may prompt you to write a note of appreciation to one or several of the committee. Go to the GC11 website (www.gc11.org) and click “Contact.” Write To: and then the note that was laid on your heart. The message will bless those administrating the site as well as those to whom it will be sent.
