Whereas:
deacons are involved in specialized ministries in the local church and
WHEREAS deacons are to assist the pastor(s) in equipping people for ministry and
WHEREAS deacons decicate significant time and training to this ministry and
WHEREAS pastoral staff who are hired come under the guidelines of being ordained, consecrated deacons or laity in a particular ministry and
WHEREAS pastoral staff would benefit immensely from the training offered in the diaconate training curriculum,
Therefore, be it resolved:
that paid pastoral staff listed as pastoral assistants or pastroal associates who are not ordained complete the diaconate track within two (2) years of their appointment to become consecrated deacons.
