Whereas:
Whereas God is the initiator of His will and purpose…
Whereas Free Methodists have a deep desire to be in the middle of God’s purpose and will…
Whereas Free Methodists are followers of Christ seeking to know God and make God known…
Whereas Free Methodists are committed to social compassion and social justice on behalf of all people…
Whereas Free Methodists know that the very best Kingdom work happens in and through the local church…
Therefore, be it resolved:
Coming out of this 2011 General Conference every Free Methodist and every Free Methodist Church is invited to…
…pray and fast for the purposes of seeking God and pursuing God’s will.
…challenge each other to increased time for personal and corporate involvement in the Word of God.
…ask God and each other what it is God wants us to start doing and what it is God wants us to stop doing.
…seriously consider this question “what will we do as a result of what God is saying to us?”
Does the resolution have a direct relationship to the vision and mission of the Free Methodist Church?
Yes.
How will the proposed change help us accomplish our vision and mission?
The danger of a gathering like GC 11 is that the event becomes an end in itself. The purpose of this resolution is to invite the entire FMC to prayerfully consider seeking God so that transformation takes place.
The Resolutions Committee rates this resolution as:
(A) Support – recommend adoption
