Whereas:
the Free Methodist Church has specific guidelines regarding the divorce issues presented by those entering the Diaconate, CMC and ordination status and
WHEREAS in the United States the practice of non-relatives (male and female) living together outside the legal commitment of marriage is considered legal common-law status and
WHEREAS there is currently no policy in the Free Methodist Book of Discipline addressing this issue when candidates for ministry seeking marriage present themselves to the conference MEG Board and
WHEREAS the act of a man and woman living together as husband and wife outside of marriage can be interpreted as adultery,
Therefore, be it resolved:
that an adultery clause with the definition to include a man and a woman living together as husband and wife outside the legal bond of marriage be a part of the Paragraphs 5650, 3311, 5340 C, 5510 D and 6600 D.
